Amanda Louden

Amanda Louden is a distinguished glass artist renowned for her mastery in hot glass work and use of sandblasting decorative techniques. Her decoration encompasses many themes from the natural world but is mainly botanically oriented with an emphasis on Australian native flora.

Amanda’s journey in glass artistry began with formal training, where she honed her skills under the guidance of experienced mentors. Amanda’s innovative use of hot glass and sandblasting techniques set her work apart. She expertly manipulates molten glass to create pieces to a preconceived color and shape, then the design is hand drawn and sandblasted onto the pieces, often multi layered, to achieve depth and intricacy. This combination of techniques results in pieces with remarkable depth and detail showcasing her skill and artistic vision.

Over the years Amanda has participated in numerous exhibitions, and her pieces have been featured in galleries and private collections worldwide. Amanda has also shared her skills with aspiring artists, as a sessional lecturer in the Fine Art Department at Monash University. Her work has also been purchased by the Australiana Fund as part of a national collection of historic artworks to enhance the décor of the Official Residences of the Governor-General and Prime Minister of Australia.
